I would like to share this experience that Iv had with a reputed domain booking company "Hostway" today. I tried to book a domain bushandthedraft.com for one of my clients at around 4pm India Time from hostway and I got my Mastercard rejected 3 times (when I called my bank later I came to know that it was charged all the three times). Anyhow after 3 failed attempts I used my other card which was through (atleast so it seemed) as there was no "Credit Card Declined" message.
And I recieved this email from Hostway

Q: When will my new domain be available?
A: Your domain name will be reserved within 2 to 3 hours of your submitting the order. However, it may not become active for 24 to 48 hours, due to propagation delays inherent in the Internet DNS system. If your domain name does not show up on the whois database within 48 hours, please contact our support team at support@hostway.com. We will take care of this right away.
You can check the whois database using your SiteControl account.
Q: I paid by credit card. When will my account info arrive?
A: Within 6 hours, you will receive an email from our Order Processing Team that contains the login information for SiteControl, your control panel for your Hostway account. In order to activate your Hostway account, you will have to log into SiteControl after you receive the login information email.
Q: I paid by check or money order. Where should I mail the check/money order, and when will my account be activated?
A: If you are paying by check, this email is your invoice. You will not receive any further correspondence from us. It is very important that you send us the total due amount as indicated above to the following address as soon as possible to prevent any delays.

This sounds like everything has gone out smoothly but the domain was still available for booking 3 hours later and after a few minutes I got an email from them saying

This took me to a form where I had to fill in loads of information which they already had asked earlier while booking the domain.
Anyhow I filled in this information also and the domain was still available when I checked after two hours and I proceeded to another registrar and booked the domain again for which I had already paid to Hostway. I didnt mind paying twice (infact this was 5th time if I also consider the charges made to my first card by Hostway while they were saying its being declined) as my client wanted this domain to be booked ASAP.
In a few minutes the domain was active to my name and was also mapped to the correct server where it was to be hosted. After a couple more hours I got another email from Hostway saying >

This took me to another form which was a printable form.
I got this email a few minutes ago only and Now that the domain is working already, they are still asking for the FAX / MAIL of this form and Front/Back of my Credit Card. All I am thinking now is that I can get a personal loan from any bank by doing these formalities for an amount as much as 500,000 INR which is more than USD 10,000.
What a fast domain booking process, Hostway?? >
